The WJEC Vocational Award in Performing Arts offers students the opportunity to explore their creative potential while gaining a comprehensive set of skills that are essential for success in today’s professional world. This course provides an engaging and practical approach to studying the performing arts, covering areas such as drama, dance, and music. It’s designed for those who are passionate about performance, as well as for those interested in the wider creative industries, including technical roles like stage management and production.
Over the course, you will work on a variety of practical projects, including live performances, group presentations, and creative challenges that allow you to apply your learning in real-world situations. As you develop your artistic skills, you will also strengthen a range of transferable skills, such as:
•Communication: Whether performing on stage, collaborating with peers, or presenting ideas, you will refine your ability to express yourself clearly and confidently.
•Teamwork and Collaboration: Much of the course involves working in groups, helping you build strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others to achieve shared goals.
•Time Management and Organisation: Balancing multiple projects, rehearsals, and deadlines will teach you how to manage your time effectively, a critical skill in any profession.
•Problem Solving and Creativity: The creative nature of the course encourages you to think critically, find innovative solutions, and adapt to new challenges—skills that are valuable in any career.
•Leadership and Self-Confidence: The course encourages students to take initiative, lead projects, and perform in front of audiences, which builds both leadership and self-assurance.
