Dear Parent, Carer and Friends of Lode Heath
Welcome to the end of term edition of your newsletter, as usual I hope you find it informative, and I include some dates for the diary.
A very successful start to the term, with record breaking exam results, was celebrated in style at the Renewal Centre. As usual, the Presentation Evening was very well attended, with representatives of the Primary Schools and Sixth Form Colleges. Governors also attended to give their support to an outstanding year group. Mr Philip Mann, the Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council Director of Quality, was our guest speaker and presented certificates and awards. This year we needed two extra awards, as Grace Brown and Matthew Mears achieved marks which were amongst the top ten students in the whole country. Well done and thank you to everyone for a terrific evening.
Our current Year 11 promise me they are going to do even better. Good, aim to be the best! Their path to GCSE is well under way now, and mock exams will run until the end of term.
The last day is our traditional fund raiser, and the time when we support ‘Helping Hands’, a local charity working with local people in distress or need. On this day, if pupils wish to take part in non-uniform, they should bring £1 and any tin of food to registration in the morning. Thank you for your support, your donations made a great difference to the assistance Helping Hands were able to provide last year.
On the sporting front, we have had some spectacular successes in golf, Year 11 football, Year 10 football, Year 9 netball and Year 8 football (at the time of writing in National quarter finals).
So, lets look forward to 2009 with hope and expectation of more success. Most of all, especially at this time of year, let us hope for peace. There are terrible events unfolding around us in 2008, I pray 2009 will be more positive for all of us. Happy Christmas, thank you for your continued support.Yours Sincerely
